Who I am …

Hello, I’m Anouchka !

My passion and mission is to create floral art inspired by wild, undone gardens! I nurture a small patch of flowers grown in harmony with nature and source them from carefully selected local flower growers. As an artisan florist, I am only using SEASONAL and LOCAL flowers and foliage that have been grown with SUSTAINABLE practices.

If like me, you love the perfect imperfection of a naturally grown flower, if you appreciate its unique wonkiness, bendiness, intense scent and ephemeral beauty, you have come to the right place.

… and what I do.

The Slow Flower Studio was once a mosaic studio, where over two decades I created works of art and taught my craft. Ironically, it is the transient, short lived beauty of flowers that led me to shift my artistic interests. Making a mosaic is a slow process which requires patience, an eye for detail as well as for the final image. From the onset you have to carefully consider colour, contrast, texture and shape. As I discovered, the same rules apply to the art of arranging flowers with the main difference that flowers are perishable.

Flowers have taught me not to be attached to things, to enjoy them in the now. What I really love about them is that they are not impacting our environment in a negative way if grown with organic practices. On the contrary, they improve biodiversity and provide sustenance to insects and bees if not dowsed in pesticides and other unnecessary chemicals. Even after their beauty has faded, they turn into valuable compost and improve the quality of our soil.

The Slow Flower Studio is located in my home here in the Eastern part of Switzerland but I love to travel and share with others what I know. I am fluent in English, German and French and lived in Paris, London, Brussels and Sydney.
